Bombay HC refuses to allow termination of pregnancy beyond 20 weeks (04 Aug 2008)
In a landmark judgment, Bombay High Court today refused to grant permission for termination of pregnancy beyond 20 weeks after rejecting a petition filed by a couple, seeking an amendment to the Medical Termination of Pregnancy (MTP) Act by allowing abortion of a 25 week fetus, diagnosed with an heart ailment.

Centre to complete groundwork for Food Safety Act by Jan 2009 (28 Jul 2008)
The Union Government has informed the Supreme Court that it will complete the groundwork for implementing the Food Safety Act, which among other things, will make it mandatory for soft drink companies, like Pepsi and Coca Cola, to display the ingredients of their products on the bottles, by January 1, 2009.
